The Major Formula

A triad is a chord with three different note roles. A major triad contains a root, a major 3rd, and a perfect 5th.

Major Triad Formula

Root + M3 + P5. Count 4 semitones from the root for the major 3rd and 7 semitones for the perfect 5th.
